The Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2 trailer shows quite a few interesting gameplay elements, such as the new Sentinel Hammer, Imps that can roll away from you, a blue, fortified, Baron of Hell, and a red Makyr drone. Those who got the Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition will be able to play it for free.
The official Doom Twitter handle just announced that Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2 will be up for download tomorrow (March 18, 2021). It turns out, we don't have to wait long for the highly-awaited DLC to drop. The prospects of a new weapon, monsters and terrain are pretty exciting, more so in a Doom game. The game does have that leniency. Some time ago, we got a glimpse at what Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2 had in store for us. So it's generally not possible to smack into a difficulty wall you can't possibly surpass.
It is worth noting that if you keep dying in a section it will offer you a massively OP armour upgrade temporarily. My understanding is that this is a fair bit harder on consoles - the precise shots and less situational awareness due to being unable to rapidly flick the camera around. It expects you to put in a lot of work to get timing right, to master the combinations of weapons, and to learn and exploit enemy weak spots. But the DLC is harder than the base game. I've played on PC, and I cannot speak for the difficulty balancing on the console versions. If you found Marauders frustrating and couldn't find the knack of timing counter-attacks, you will find elements of the DLC very frustrating. If you liked the more simple and straightforward storytelling in 2016 over Eternal's deepest lore of the DOOM SLAYER you may find Eternal's DLC to perhaps be too much.ĭesign elements such as the Marauders are doubled down on. Eternal was already polarizing, but the DLC doubles down on it, and at one point you've got a straight up Avengers: Endgame moment with Doom Guy's army of allies coming through portals. It depends on what you enjoyed about the base game and/or didn't enjoy.
